theweeklyansible:

Beautiful Gamera-inspired art. Gamera is a kaiju from the Japanese film studio Daiei. The first film was very low budget, made in 1965, and followed the traditional kaiju storylines with a giant monster being disturbed by nuclear testing. In this original film and the very well done sequel, Gamera v. Barugon (not the Baragon of Toho’s films, whose debut film Frankenstein Conquers the World has long been a fan favorite), Gamera feeds off of fossil fuel sources. In the second series (whose second instalment, Gamera: Attack of Legion, is perhaps one of the greatest kaiju films of all time) Gamera is created by an ancient race of technologically-advanced peoples. This was an unfortunate development for an otherwise amazing kaiju. My heart will always be with the original.
