Tell Georgia Governor Deal to Get Moving on Clean Offshore Wind Energy

Clean-Energy Supporters,

Today, Hundreds of Sierra Club supporters are calling Governor Nathan Deal’s office to send him a clear message: Join the Smart from the Start Offshore Wind Initiative and create Georgia Wind jobs! We need your support to make this action a success! Can youcall Governor Deal’s office and deliver that message? Governor Nathan Deal: 404-656-1776

Did you know that Georgia has the fourth largest offshore wind energy potential of all Atlantic Coast states and the second lowest cost of constructing offshore wind energy projects?  We also have one of the only Governor’s doing nothing to help put people to work developing this clean energy resource! Every other eligible Atlantic Coast Governor north of Georgia (including South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia) have all signed onto the Federal “Smart from the Start” offshore wind energy initiative to stream-line the development of offshore wind energy in their state.  Georgia’s Governor Nathan Deal remains the key hold-out, effectively putting Georgia’s wind energy industry a decade behind the rest of the nation.
